OTTOVÙ78 is now published, 2nd in class at 2024 Pebble Beach

August 19, 2024

We are proud to announce the publication of another MONOGRAPHIC CHASSIS BOOK.
Sandro Binelli is the author of "OTTOVÙ78", dedicated to the 1956 Fiat 8V ZAGATO (Zagato) sn 106*000078*.

The protagonist is fresh from its recent participation in the 73rd Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, held on August 18, 2024, where it took second place in the class "O-1: Postwar Sports Racing". In California, the rare car was presented to the judges accompanied by the Automotive Masteries dossier and the new monographic volume dedicated to it.

The book tells one of just six Fiat 8V ZAGATO "double-bubble" models produced. It raced in the 1956 Mille Miglia, driven by Mario "Wotan" Ferrini and Sergio Rabuffi for the Scuderia Sant Ambroeus, ranking 47th overall and 9th in its class. Its Zagato’s “essential elegance” also earned it 1st in class at the 1956 Concorso d’Eleganza in Rimini.

In the USA the car was unveiled after a long restoration that brought it back to the original shape of the characteristic front and the original color. The volume traces the entire sporting history, participation in competitions, changes of ownership, the historical continuity made of Zagato gatherings up to the long restoration. The volume is embellished with very refined graphics based on distinctive elements of the car such as the detail of the grille that becomes a translucent texture in the dust jacket or background to the images as well as the 8V emblem.

Chassis sn 106*000078* received the second Rina Certificate (N. RAM-2) for the historical research conducted on the car through a validation process of its proven historicity and provenance by Automotive Masterpieces.

The dedicated volume is part of the MONOGRAPHIC CHASSIS BOOKS series, edited by AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES. These books focus on and examine a single, specific chassis and are a natural consequence of our historical research. The books are organized in chronological order and, after presenting the car's highlights, they explore both the general history of the model, including data sheets and chassis numbers, and the specific history of the specimen. This is followed by an expansion on various aspects such as: owners’ biographies, drivers’ biographies (if any), detailed history in chronological order with as many found images as possible. The MONOGRAPHIC CHASSIS BOOKS have become feasible thanks to the current possibilities offered by digital printing, which allows for limited editions (for collections, museums, private individuals) and editions for specialized bookshops. Made with the aim of being a quality and reference product, the MONOGRAPHIC CHASSIS BOOKS are custom made.
