FROM FRAGMENTED RECORDS TO A DOCUMENTED HISTORY OF OWNERSHIP AND COMPETITION

April 16, 2026

STARTING POINT
At the outset of the research, very little was known about chassis B24S-1016. The available information was limited to fragmented ownership records, with no clear identification of early owners of significance, no confirmed competition history, and no detailed understanding of the car’s condition prior to its restoration. The sporting career traditionally associated with the car remained largely hypothetical and undocumented.

RESEARCH
Extensive archival research and direct enquiries led to the identification of several early notable owners, including figures from the industrial and cultural elite of post-war Italy, such as publisher Dino Fabbri. A decisive step forward was achieved through direct contact with Francesco Fabbri, whose expertise proved instrumental in clarifying the car’s early history and original configuration, also supported by rare period photographs taken on the Lancia assembly line. Further significant progress resulted from direct contact with Alessio De Mare and Francesco Cervadoro, which made it possible to bring to light the previously unverified sporting activity associated with Donato Giuseppe Jannone. This research led to the identification of period competitions, race results, class placings and photographic evidence, significantly strengthening the historical profile of the car. In addition, new information emerged regarding the circumstances of the car’s long period of abandonment and the details of the careful, philologically oriented restoration carried out between 1987 and 1992 under the direct supervision of Francesco Cervadoro and entrusted to specialised local craftsmen.
