The Circuito di Senigallia was one of the most important Italian road races of the post-war period, held on a street circuit in the Marche town of Senigallia. Organized from 1947 to 1956, the competition took place on a track of approximately 10 km, featuring long straights and demanding corners, making it a true test for both cars and drivers. The race was initially dedicated to sports and touring cars, attracting prestigious names from the motorsport scene of the time. Its strategic location and fast layout made it a high-speed event, with average speeds that were remarkable for a road race. Over the years, legendary manufacturers such as Ferrari, Maserati, Lancia, and Porsche participated, along with some of the top drivers of the era. One of the distinctive features of the competition was the mix of urban sections and open roads, requiring a perfect balance between power and handling. The race became part of the Italian Sports Car Championship and gained international recognition, earning the nickname "Monte Carlo of the Marche" due to its growing prestige. Like many other road races, the Circuito di Senigallia was discontinued in 1956 following the tragic accident at that year’s Mille Miglia, which led to increasing concerns about safety in motorsport. City circuits gradually gave way to permanent racetracks, marking the end of an era. Despite its short lifespan, the Circuito di Senigallia remains an important chapter in Italian motorsport history, remembered for its speed, the great champions who competed there, and the charm of its track set against the picturesque Adriatic coastline.
