#RiversideSportsCarRaces
The Riverside Sports Car Races were among the first major events held at Riverside International Raceway after its opening in 1957. Sanctioned by the SCCA, these races quickly drew the best sports cars and drivers on the West Coast, including Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, and American specials. Riverside’s sports car races became a highlight of the U.S. calendar through the late 1950s and 1960s, showcasing rising stars such as Carroll Shelby, Dan Gurney, and Richie Ginther. They embodied the shift of American road racing from temporary airport circuits to permanent venues, marking Riverside as a stage for some of the era’s most competitive and glamorous sports car competition.
We'll tell the story of this event on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
