The Rally Golfo dei Poeti, also known as the Trofeo Golfo dei Poeti, is a historic Italian rally first held in the 1970s in the province of La Spezia, named after the famous Ligurian bay celebrated by poets such as Byron and Shelley. Initially conceived as a regional event, it quickly gained importance in the Italian rally scene, attracting strong entries and competitive cars of the era, from the Lancia Fulvia HF to the Stratos. During the late 1970s and early 1980s the rally became renowned for its twisting and technical tarmac stages through the Ligurian hills and the Val di Vara, with notable victories including local and national drivers at the wheel of iconic Italian rally cars. Although no longer on the major national calendar, the Trofeo Golfo dei Poeti remains remembered as a classic event of Italian rallying’s golden era.
