The Nationale Sportwagen Race was a Dutch national sports car event held at the Zandvoort circuit in June 1949, shortly after the end of World War II and before the official opening of the Formula One Dutch Grand Prix. The event attracted private entrants and gentleman drivers from the Netherlands and neighboring countries, often competing in pre-war machinery such as Bugattis, BMW 328s, and early Ferraris. Though not internationally sanctioned, it played an important role in reviving motorsport in the Netherlands and in demonstrating the lasting competitiveness of pre-war sports cars in the immediate postwar era.
We'll tell the story of this event on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
