Marco Magdalone was an Italian nobleman and landowner active in the mid-20th century, best known as the Baron of Rende, a historic town in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. He was the son of Luigi Magdalone and a direct descendant of the ancient Magdalone (or Maddalone) family, whose noble origins trace back to the town of Maddaloni in Campania. The family settled in Rende as early as the 16th century and held significant influence in the region for generations. By the 1950s, Marco represented one of the last hereditary figures of the Magdalone lineage still residing in Rende. He is presumed to have overseen the administration of remaining family estates and properties, including rural lands and former feudal holdings acquired following the abolition of feudalism in the early 19th century. Although documentation on Marco’s personal and professional life is limited, the Magdalone name remained associated with civic and cultural life in Rende during this period. Family connections to religious institutions—such as the now-lost chapel dedicated to the Madonna di Montserrat—and early support for local sports clubs suggest a continued, if more discreet, presence in public affairs. Marco Magdalone stands as a symbolic figure marking the twilight of traditional nobility in post-war southern Italy.
