John Graham Foulston (27 June 1947 – 29 September 1987) was a British entrepreneur and amateur racing driver who left a significant mark on UK motorsport during the 1980s. Foulston built his fortune through Atlantic Computers, a computer leasing company he founded and eventually sold. His success in business allowed him to fully embrace his passion for motorsport. In 1986, he purchased several major British racing circuits—Brands Hatch, Oulton Park, Snetterton, and Cadwell Park—which he brought together under the Brands Hatch Leisure Group, transforming him into a central figure in British motorsport infrastructure. As a driver, Foulston was highly active in the Thundersports series, competing in powerful Can-Am cars such as the Lola T530 and the VDS-001. He also took part in various historic racing events, often behind the wheel of notable vintage machines. Tragically, on 29 September 1987, Foulston was killed during a private test session at Silverstone while driving a 1970 McLaren M15S IndyCar. A suspected mechanical failure caused the throttle to stick open, resulting in a fatal crash at Club Corner. After his death, his daughter Nicola Foulston took over the management of the Brands Hatch Leisure Group, continuing her father’s legacy and becoming a prominent business figure in the world of motorsport.
We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
