Sir Henry Royce, born Frederick Henry Royce on March 27, 1863, in Alwalton, England, was a pioneering British engineer and entrepreneur. Co-founder of Rolls-Royce Limited in 1906 alongside Charles Rolls, Royce was the technical genius behind the company's innovative automobiles and aircraft engines. Among his achievements, the Silver Ghost of 1907 earned the title of "the best car in the world," setting new standards in reliability and quality. Royce also made significant contributions to aviation, designing engines like the Merlin, which powered iconic aircraft such as the Spitfire and Lancaster during World War II. Despite lacking formal engineering training, Royce's perfectionism and ingenuity earned him a knighthood in 1929 for his services to the automotive and aeronautical industries. He worked tirelessly until his passing on April 22, 1933, leaving a legacy synonymous with engineering excellence and luxury.
