Günter Steckkönig is a German engineer, test driver and racing driver closely associated with Porsche for several decades. He joined Porsche as an apprentice mechanic in 1953, later working in vehicle testing and development and becoming one of the marque’s most experienced test drivers. His competition career included factory and privateer appearances with Porsche machinery ranging from the 911 and 914/6 to the 917, 908 and 935. Steckkönig competed in major events including the Targa Florio, Nürburgring endurance races and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, while simultaneously contributing to the development and testing of numerous Porsche road and racing cars.
