#EuropeanRallyChampionship

The European Rally Championship (ERC) is the oldest international rally championship in the world. Established by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) in 1953, it brings together many of Europe's most prestigious asphalt, gravel and mixed-surface rallies. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the championship represented the highest level of international rally competition, attracting leading manufacturers, works teams and Europe's foremost drivers. With legendary events such as Monte Carlo, RAC, Sanremo, Acropolis, and the 1000 Lakes, it shaped the modern era of rally sport. By 2012 it had reached its 60th edition. Today, the ERC remains one of the FIA's premier rally series and serves as an important stepping stone to the World Rally Championship (WRC).
