#CoppaFisaTurismo

The Coppa FISA Turismo was a prominent Italian sports car race organized by FISA (Fédération Internationale du Sport Automobile) in the early 1960s. First run at Monza in November 1963, the inaugural event featured highly competitive entries from the Alfa Romeo GTZ (Giulia TZ), which famously swept the top four places in the prototype class. Designed as a championship event, the Coppa FISA at Monza attracted top-tier drivers including Lorenzo Bandini, Giampiero Bussinello, Giancarlo Baghetti, and Consalvo Sanesi, all piloting TZ models. It showcased the capabilities of the lightweight, tubular-bodied racing cars under FISA regulations and marked a key moment in the development of GT racing. Though not as long-lived as other GT races, the Coppa FISA Turismo marked an important milestone in FISA’s efforts to formalize GT and prototype racing under international sporting regulations.
