Christian Loriaux is a Belgian rally engineer and designer, best known for his work in the World Rally Championship with Prodrive and M-Sport. He worked at Prodrive from the early 1990s to 2002, during the period of Subaru’s Legacy, Impreza 555 and Impreza WRC programmes, before moving to M-Sport, where he became one of the key technical figures behind Ford’s World Rally Championship cars. Loriaux is especially associated with the Ford Focus RS WRC, including the 2003 evolution, described in period accounts as the first Focus WRC entirely designed under his direction. His later work at M-Sport contributed to Ford’s continued WRC competitiveness and to the technical development of modern rally cars. In the context of Subaru, his relevance is linked to his Prodrive period and to the engineering environment that produced the Impreza WRC, including the final two-door evolutions of the early World Rally Car era.
