#CharlesRolls

Charles Stewart Rolls, born on August 27, 1877, in London, was a British pioneer in motoring and aviation, and co-founder of Rolls-Royce Limited alongside Henry Royce in 1906. A graduate of Trinity College, Cambridge, Rolls was an accomplished engineer and a passionate advocate for motorcars and flight. He became the first person to sell cars in the UK, focusing on luxury and reliability. His partnership with Royce led to the creation of Rolls-Royce, a brand synonymous with excellence. Rolls was also a trailblazer in aviation, becoming the first Briton to make a non-stop double crossing of the English Channel by plane in 1910. Tragically, he died on July 12, 1910, at the age of 32, in a flying accident at Bournemouth, making him one of aviation's first casualties. Despite his short life, Rolls left a lasting legacy in both the automotive and aviation industries.
