#AlfaRomeoGiuliettaSZ

Introduced in 1960, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Zagato (SZ) was a lightweight, competition-oriented evolution of the Giulietta Sprint Veloce, developed through the collaboration between Alfa Romeo and Carrozzeria Zagato. Designed primarily by Ercole Spada under the direction of Elio Zagato, the SZ featured a hand-built aluminium body, extensively lightened construction and improved aerodynamics. Powered by the 1,290 cc twin-cam four-cylinder engine, it combined modest weight with outstanding handling and quickly established itself as one of the most successful Gran Turismo competition cars of its era. Campaigned by both the factory and numerous private entrants, the Giulietta SZ achieved victories and class wins in circuit racing, endurance events, rallies and hill climbs throughout Europe. Approximately 210 examples were built between 1960 and 1962, including both the original Coda Tonda and the later Coda Tronca versions.
