Akira Teshima is a Japanese industrial and product designer, educated at the University of Tsukuba in production design. He began his career in 1989 at Fuji Heavy Industries, working in the exterior design team, where he was involved in the styling of the first-generation Subaru Impreza, including the WRX, and in exterior components for the model series. He also worked on design projects related to the Legacy, Justy limited editions, the first STI Impreza demo/rally car and design concepts for the Alcyone SVX facelift. After leaving Fuji Heavy Industries, Teshima developed a broader career in product and furniture design, working for Plus Corporation and other design-related companies before founding Teshima Design Studio in 2007. His later work has included product design, office furniture, branding, consultancy, 3D-CG, rapid prototyping, teaching and regional design projects. He is a member of the Japan Industrial Designers’ Association and has received several Japanese design recognitions, including Good Design-related awards.
