The Subaru Car Register is born: a new initiative to document and preserve Subaru’s automotive heritage
October 25, 2026
The Subaru Car Register is born, the first registry of its kind in the world dedicated to iconic Subaru road and competition cars, with the aim of documenting and preserving their history, authenticity and provenance.
Developed through a collaboration between NAB Heritage, RINA and Automotive Masterpieces, the initiative introduces an approach to vehicle registration based on historical research, documentary evidence and independent certification.
NAB Heritage, the Italian company specialising in the sale, restoration and preservation of Subaru vehicles, led by former rally driver Andrea Navarra, initiated the project to provide owners and collectors with a reliable means of documenting the history, specifications and condition of individual vehicles.
Automotive Masterpieces contributes its expertise in historical and documentary research, reconstructing the history and provenance of individual cars through the examination and cross-referencing of archival sources, historical photographs, technical documentation and other available evidence. This research is supported by a methodology certified by RINA, providing an additional level of independent validation.
The first Subaru cars documented by Automotive Masterpieces
The collaboration has already produced its first tangible results, with two significant Subaru competition cars officially included among the Automotive Masterpieces:
1999 Subaru-Prodrive P25, chassis no. GC8-079046 (AU-34846).
2000 Subaru Impreza WRC, chassis no. PRO-GC8.00.011 (AU-34881).
Both cars have undergone historical research by Automotive Masterpieces, with the corresponding research certified by RINA. Their individual digital records provide access to documented histories and supporting materials, illustrating the research-based approach at the heart of the initiative.
The information gathered through this process is made accessible via the Subaru Car Register and the Automotive Masterpieces digital platform, contributing to the development of a structured and verifiable archive that can be progressively enriched as new documentation becomes available.
Beyond the creation of a marque-specific register, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to the study, preservation and dissemination of automotive heritage. By connecting individual vehicles with their documented histories, the Subaru Car Register aims to safeguard the identity and historical significance of these cars for owners, researchers, collectors and future generations.
