Automotive Masterpieces certified by RINA: a new step in the validation of automotive history

June 10, 2026

Automotive Masterpieces has reached another important milestone in its ongoing commitment to research, innovation and the enhancement of automotive heritage: not only its historical research methodology, but Automotive Masterpieces itself has been certified by RINA, one of the most authoritative international bodies in the field of certification, inspection, testing and engineering services.

Founded in Genoa and rooted in the long tradition of the Registro Italiano Navale, RINA has developed from its original role in classification and certification into a global, multidisciplinary organization operating across several sectors, including mobility and the automotive field. Its activities include conformity assessment, certification, inspection, control and verification: in practical terms, this means that processes, methods and results are examined according to defined criteria by an independent and qualified body.

For Automotive Masterpieces, this certification represents much more than a formal recognition. It confirms the value of a working method based on documentary research, cross-checking of sources, historical reconstruction, provenance analysis and the careful validation of data. It also provides an additional level of confidence for collectors, institutions and enthusiasts, because the research work carried out on each car is supported by a certified methodology and acknowledged by an external certification body.

This new step is especially significant in relation to the cars included among the Automotive Masterpieces. From now on, all new cars entering the Automotive Masterpieces selection will automatically be RINA-certified. At the same time, the cars already included in the archive will gradually be brought into the same certification framework, so that the entire body of work may benefit from a consistent and independently certified approach.

The RINA certification is also part of a wider path of continuous development. Automotive Masterpieces continues to invest in technology, innovation and increasingly refined digital tools to make its research more transparent, traceable and useful. A recent example is the new feature introduced in the History section of each car: whenever updated information is added, a “new/update” label appears next to the relevant data, making it immediately clear to readers that fresh material has been integrated. This discreet but valuable indication remains visible for three months from its activation, allowing users to identify recent additions and follow the evolution of each car’s documented history.

With the RINA certification and the continuous improvement of its digital platform, Automotive Masterpieces strengthens its role as a research institute dedicated to historic automobiles not only as collectible objects, but as cultural assets whose history deserves to be studied, verified, preserved and communicated with the highest possible standards.
