Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025: Alfa Romeo Tipo B Wins Best of Show

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025, held from May 23 to 25 on the shores of Lake Como, reaffirmed its prestige as one of the most refined events in the international automotive scene. Organized by BMW Group Classic in collaboration with the Hotel Villa d’Este, the event attracted enthusiasts, collectors, and curious visitors from all over the world.

The prestigious “BMW Group Trophy – Best of Show” was awarded to the 1934 Alfa Romeo Tipo B (P3), presented by the Auriga Collection from Germany. Designed by Vittorio Jano, this revolutionary single-seater marked the history of motor racing thanks to its cutting-edge design and outstanding performance. The jury recognized its impeccable state of preservation and its inestimable historical value.

The public instead awarded the “Coppa d’Oro Villa d’Este” to the 1957 BMW 507 Roadster, presented by Dirk de Groen from the USA. This model, famous for its elegant lines and 3.2-liter V8 engine, represents one of the highest expressions of design and engineering excellence from the Bavarian manufacturer.

The 2025 edition celebrated several important anniversaries: 30 years of the BMW 3 Series, 100 years of the Rolls-Royce Phantom, and the 70th anniversary of the BMW Isetta. BMW also premiered the new M2 CS, the Speedtop concept car, and the futuristic BMW Motorrad Concept RR, symbol of the next generation of superbikes.

Friday was dedicated to check-in operations and the technical briefing for participants. On Saturday, May 24, the cars paraded on the terrace of Villa d’Este, while on Sunday, May 25, during the “Public Day” at Villa Erba, visitors had the opportunity to admire the cars up close and vote in the referendum for the Design Award dedicated to concept cars.

Other Awards Presented were: the ASI Trophy for the best-preserved postwar car: 1965 Serenissima 308 V, designed by Francisco Salomone and brought by Tom McGough (USA); BMW Group Classic Trophy for the best restoration: 1939 Lagonda V12 DHC owned by Indian collector Nishant Dossa

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2025 successfully blended tradition and innovation, offering a unique experience that celebrates the beauty and history of the automobile.
