THE STUNNING STEVE MCQUEEN AMARANTO RED FERRARI SPIDER

July 19, 2024

We have counted another jewel among the Automotive Masterpieces: the last of 200 Ferrari 275 GTS produced. Since Ferrari decided to build just 199 units of this model, this car, with chassis no.☆08653☆, was an extra one at the special request of the famous actor and racing driver Steve McQueen. The car had special features and was finished in “total black.” As soon as it arrived on the US west coast, McQueen had another request, and the spider was painted Amaranto Red by the famous customizer Lee Brown, creator of the "Highland Green" Ford Mustang, co-starring in the movie "Bullitt." The car has been published on our website and is the second car whose research has been certified by RINA, the multinational certification firm, following the agreement between RINA and AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES RESEARCH LAB. Due to the importance of the car, in both history and culture, AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES has also dedicated a monographic chassis book: "THE GREAT ESCAPE" OF MY LIFE - 1966 Ferrari 275 GTS (Pininfarina) 08653. The book is a travel in the magic of an era: filled with colorful pictures and newspaper articles, tells the story of this special spider, featuring moments of Steve McQueen, his beautiful wife, and their charming life in the glamour of 1960s Hollywood, including parties, clubs, and social events. The book chronicles the adventures that followed and the lengthy and detailed restoration process that brought it back to the glory of its days with McQueen. The book’s print run was limited and intended for private diffusion and distribution.
