#SergioPininfarina

Sergio Pininfarina, born Sergio Farina (Turin, 8 September 1926 – Turin, 3 July 2012), was an Italian entrepreneur, coachbuilder, designer, and life senator. A cousin of Formula 1 world champion Nino Farina, he inherited the leadership of the renowned carrozzeria founded by his father, Battista “Pinin” Farina, following the latter’s death. In 1961, by decree of the President of the Italian Republic Giovanni Gronchi, the family’s nickname “Pinin” (meaning “the youngest” in Piedmontese dialect) was officially added to the surname, making it “Pininfarina.” Under Sergio’s presidency, the company further solidified its reputation as one of the world’s most influential automotive design firms, establishing long-standing collaborations with marques such as Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Peugeot, and of course, Fiat. In 2005, Sergio Pininfarina was appointed Senator for Life of the Italian Republic, in recognition of his contributions to industry and Italian design.
