#InternationalAdac1000KmRennen
The Nürburgring 1000 Kilometres, officially known as the Internationales ADAC 1000 km Rennen, was an international sports car endurance race held at Germany's Nürburgring circuit and organised by the Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club (ADAC). The inaugural edition took place on 30 August 1953 as part of the first World Sportscar Championship and was won by Alberto Ascari and Giuseppe Farina in a Ferrari 375 MM. Contested over 44 laps of the 22.8 km Nordschleife, the race covered 1,003.2 km and established itself as one of the principal endurance events in international motor racing. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, it attracted leading manufacturers and drivers, including Ferrari, Porsche, Maserati, Aston Martin, Ford and Alfa Romeo. Stirling Moss achieved four victories between 1956 and 1960. The demanding Nordschleife remained the traditional venue until 1983, when Stefan Bellof recorded a qualifying lap of 6 minutes 11.13 seconds in a Porsche 956, averaging more than 200 km/h. His record stood until 2018, when it was surpassed by Timo Bernhard in a Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo during a non-competitive record attempt. From 1984, the 1000 Kilometres was held on the newly constructed Nürburgring Grand Prix circuit, continuing until 1991 before returning in the 2000s as part of the Le Mans Endurance Series and its successors. Between 2015 and 2017, the Nürburgring also hosted a six-hour round of the FIA World Endurance Championship, continuing the circuit's international endurance racing tradition. In 2021, the ADAC 1000 Kilometres was revived as a historic endurance event, returning to a layout incorporating the Nordschleife.
