He was the former executive vice president for research and development at Porsche AG. He is most remembered for assisting in the development of the 911 and derivatives. Bott joined Porsche in 1952 as a production assistant. He was appointed head of the experimental department in 1955. Bott became driving test director in 1962, test director and deputy director of development in 1968, and director of development in 1970. In 1978, he was appointed board member in charge of research. He held the position until he retired in 1988.
