Helmuth Bott (1925–1994) was a German engineer and longtime Porsche executive, best known for his central role in the development of the Porsche 911 and its derivatives. He joined Porsche in 1952 as a production assistant and became head of the experimental department in 1955. Appointed driving test director in 1962, he later served as test director and deputy head of development from 1968, before becoming director of development in 1970. In 1978 he joined the Porsche management board with responsibility for research and development, a position he held until his retirement in 1988. Bott was deeply involved in the evolution of the 911 platform and in many of Porsche’s major engineering programmes over more than three decades.
