#GrandePrêmioCidadeDeSãoPaulo

São Paulo had its first GP, in 1936, a street circuit through the city: it was an event that practically stopped São Paulo. Promoted by the powerful São Paulo businessman, Sabaddo D'Angelo, owner of the Sudan cigarette factory, the event was held on a date shortly after the Gávea Circuit, in Rio de Janeiro, to take advantage of the largest number of international riders who were already in the country. Later moved to the Interlagos Circuit, due to safety reasons.
