Ercole Spada (Busto Arsizio, 26 July 1937 – Sestriere, 3 August 2025) was an Italian automotive designer. He began his career at Zagato in 1960 and remained there until 1969, contributing significantly to one of the Milanese coachbuilder’s most productive periods. His designs combined aerodynamic efficiency with clean, flowing forms and often made use of the truncated-tail principle that became closely associated with his work. During his years at Zagato, Spada was responsible for, or closely involved in, cars including the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato, Alfa Romeo Giulietta SZ, Giulia TZ and TZ2, 2600 SZ and Junior Z, as well as the Lancia Flavia Sport and Fulvia Sport. He later worked for Ford, Ghia, Audi and BMW before joining the I.DE.A Institute, where he contributed to several important production models, including the Fiat Tipo, Lancia Dedra and Alfa Romeo 155. He subsequently returned to independent design and co-founded Spadaconcept with his son Paolo.
