#AugiePabst

August “Augie” Pabst Jr. (1933–2024) was an American sports car driver from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a major figure in postwar U.S. road racing. A great-grandson of Milwaukee brewing magnates Frederick Pabst and August Uihlein, he built his reputation in SCCA and USAC competition, winning the 1959 USAC Road Racing Championship and the 1960 SCCA National Sports Car Championship. After retiring from frontline racing, he joined Pabst Brewing Company, learning the brewing business from the ground up and later serving as an executive in the family firm. He raced for leading teams and entrants including Meister Brauser, Briggs Cunningham, Luigi Chinetti’s NART and John Mecom, driving cars such as Ferrari, Maserati, Scarab and Elva-Porsche. Closely associated with Road America, he later remained active in historic racing and was inducted into both the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America and the SCCA Hall of Fame.
