#AnnualGoldenDaysRaces
The Annual Golden Days Races were mid-1950s sports-car events staged as part of Galveston’s “Golden Days” civic celebrations. Run on temporary road or airfield-based circuits, they attracted a mix of Texas and Gulf Coast privateers, reflecting the period’s growing enthusiasm for post-war road racing. Although smaller than the island’s better-known Gran Carrera Lafitte, the Golden Days Races shared much of the same atmosphere, driver base and informal airfield-circuit character, forming a complementary chapter in Galveston’s brief but lively role in the Southern SCCA scene.
