FROM OBSCURITY TO DISCOVERY: UNEARTHING A FORGOTTEN HISTORY
March 20, 2025
STARTING POINT
The history of this car had never been analyzed and was therefore unknown. Since it had not taken part in any major sporting events, it was assumed to have led a quiet and uneventful life, passing through the hands of wealthy but unremarkable owners.
RESEARCH
The statement is partially true, but by taking a closer look and carefully analyzing the list of owners and their identities, some interesting details about the car’s early years have emerged. In fact, the first registered ownership was under S.I.A.T.A., suggesting that it was likely used by Ambrosini for promotion, competitions, and exhibitions, which will be the subject of a future study. Additionally, the car had an illustrious first private owner: Sergio Manente, an Italian football player and coach. He played first for Udinese, then for Juventus, and was also part of the Italian national team in 1952.
