TRACING A NEW HISTORY

January 9, 2025

STARTING POINT
The early history of Alfa Romeo chassis no. 915527 was rather unclear. Anderloni recalled that the car was built around 1943. Some sources claimed the first owner to be the French nobleman Baron du Taillis, but everything remained uncertain until the car’s arrival in Switzerland, followed by its inclusion in Michel Dovaz’s famous “Sleeping Beauties” collection. The rest of the story was well known.

RESEARCH
We managed to reconstruct the car’s history, concluding that it was likely partially assembled around 1943 and that the front section was probably completed in 1945, bringing it in line with contemporary design standards. At this stage, collaboration with our friends at the “Archivio Targhe” register was crucial. They were able to trace the car’s early Italian history, debunking the French ownership narrative and confirming notable owners such as the driver Michelangelo Leonardi. We were thus able to contextualize the car’s various phases, including its transfer to Switzerland, with greater detail about its Swiss owners. Equally valuable was the collaboration with the Touring register, which helped outline the car’s participation in events.
