DISCOVERY OF PARTICIPATION IN RACES IN THE ROMAN AREA IN 1955

November 9, 2023

STARTING POINT
It is the case of a car whose history was partially known. The car was known to have participated in the 1954 Brussels Motor Show and, apparently, had a short sporting past participating at the 1954 Rally di Venezia, driven by Giuseppe Bianchi.

RESEARCH
On the basis of what already provided by the client, and thanks to our careful research, it was possible to have some revelations. Investigating in the archives, registers, consulting various sources it was possible to get more documentary and photographic evidence, even press, of the successful participation at the 1954 Rally di Venezia. Furthermore, a richer sporting past for a “gentleman's granturismo” has emerged: in spring 1955, the car attended to three other racing events near Rome with Giuseppe Bianchi at the wheel: the Giornata Dei Primati, the IV Coppa Dei Laghi (3rd in class) and the Coppa d'oro del Bolide Rosso (1st in class). Another novelty was the identification of events in a period usually overlooked by historical investigations, the most recent of the car, in its life as a collector's car: participation in recent events was validated by photographic evidence in 1980, 2001, 2002, 2015.
