Amilcar was a French car manufacturer active from 1921 to 1939. It was founded under the name of Société Nouvelle pour l'Automobile Amilcar. The name Amilcar derives from the fusion and anagram of the surnames of the two main founders, Joseph Lamy and Emile Akar. The headquarters of Amilcar were immediately established in Saint-Denis.
