#WilmotHillsRaceCourseConcours
Event held on the Wilmot Hills Race Course. Situated just north of the Illinois-Wisconsin border in Wilmot, Wisconsin, the track operated from 1953 until 1967. Though relatively short—measuring between 7/10ths of a mile to a mile, depending on the source—it holds a unique place in history as one of the Midwest’s earliest purpose-built road courses. The track saw heavy use, hosting numerous driver schools, club races, and various track events throughout its years of operation. As shown on this page, there were three races held in just two months, with two of them occurring only a week apart. The Wilmot Hills Race Course was originally established in 1953. It was re-engineered in 1957 by Chicago Region SCCA members on land leased from the ski hill owners. This partnership made efficient use of the space, with summer racing activities complementing the winter use of the area as a ski resort.
We'll tell the story of this concours on the occasion of its anniversary or when we reach a sufficient number of cars.
