Pietro Frua (Turin, May 2, 1913 – Turin, June 28, 1983) was an Italian entrepreneur, coachbuilder, and one of the most prominent car designers of the post-war era. Active mainly during the 1950s and 1960s, he earned international acclaim for his elegant, balanced, and often forward-thinking automotive creations. Frua began his career as a draftsman at Stabilimenti Farina and later founded his own carrozzeria in Turin. Over the years, he collaborated with numerous major manufacturers, including Maserati, Fiat, Glas, AC, Renault, and Volvo. Among his most celebrated works are the Maserati A6G/54, the Glas 2600 V8 (later badged BMW), and several one-off or limited-series prototypes that showcased his refined sense of proportion and style. Known for combining artisanal craftsmanship with modern design, Frua was a true ambassador of Italian automotive elegance on the world stage. His creations are still highly regarded by collectors and connoisseurs for their distinctive blend of innovation, restraint, and aesthetic harmony.
We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
