Paolo Morassutti (27 April 1927 – 9 August 2013) was an Italian entrepreneur known for introducing Fischerwerke to Italy, helping transform the hardware and DIY retail market. Born in Belluno into a well-established family of wholesalers and timber traders, he was the youngest son of Federico Morassutti, who had grown the family business into a major national distributor. In 1963, he partnered with Artur Fischer to bring Fischer’s innovative S-Plugs to Italy, founding Fischer Italia in Padua. This marked a turning point for the industry, as Paolo modernized retail strategies by adopting self-service formats and expanding into the growing DIY sector. He also co-founded AIGID in 1960, a key organization for large-scale retail distribution in Italy. Paolo Morassutti died in Belluno in 2013, leaving a legacy of innovation and leadership in Italian distribution.
