#NicolaMaterazzi
Nicola Materazzi (Caselle in Pittari, January 28, 1939 – Sapri, August 23, 2022) was an Italian mechanical engineer best known for his work on high-performance road and racing cars, and especially for leading the development of the Ferrari F40. After graduating in engineering, he began his career at Lancia in Turin as a calculations specialist and became involved with the Lancia Stratos program, later working on its competition development; this early experience helped shape his long-standing focus on forced induction. Following the reorganization of Fiat and Lancia competition activities, he moved through Abarth and then Osella before joining Ferrari’s racing division at the end of the 1970s, where he played a central role in the adoption and development of turbocharged engines and subsequently led key performance road-car projects, including the Ferrari 288 GTO and the F40. Beyond Ferrari road cars, his work also included engine projects such as the type 268 used on the Lancia LC2 endurance prototype. In the following years he held senior technical roles and consultancies, including work connected with the Bugatti EB110 program and later the B Engineering Edonis.
We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
