#MikeParkes

Michael Johnson “Mike” Parkes (Richmond upon Thames, 24 September 1931 – Riva near Chieri, 28 August 1977) was a British racing driver and development engineer. Although he also raced in Formula One for Ferrari, his name is more closely associated with sports and GT cars, where he became one of Maranello’s most valued test and endurance drivers. For Ferrari he achieved major results in covered-wheel racing, including third overall at Le Mans in 1963, victory at the 12 Hours of Sebring in 1964, wins at the Monza 1000 Kilometres in 1965 and 1966, and victory at the Spa 1000 Kilometres in 1966. His technical background made him especially valuable to Ferrari, combining speed, mechanical sensitivity and development ability.

We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
