The acronym W198 identifies the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, a luxury sports car produced from 1954 to 1957 as a coupé (in the configuration of which it was also known by the nickname "Gullwing") and from 1957 to 1963 as a roadster by the German company Mercedes- Benz.
