Matteo Togninalli, born on September 25, 1977, in Sondrio, Italy, is a highly regarded Italian engineer currently serving as Head of Track Engineering at Scuderia Ferrari. He graduated in Mechanical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano in 2003 and began his professional journey at the Fiat Research Centre, where he first came into contact with Ferrari's vehicle development activities. In 2005 he joined the Remote Garage program of Scuderia Ferrari and by 2008 had become part of the team as a Vehicle Dynamics Engineer. In 2010 he was promoted to Head of Race Performance Engineering and since 2015 has led the Track Engineering Department, overseeing all technical operations during race weekends and managing the Race Performance Engineering group at Maranello. Togninalli has developed deep expertise in vehicle dynamics, data analysis, and the integration of electronic control systems. While his primary focus remains Formula 1, he also contributed to special Ferrari projects including the Monza SP1, where his knowledge was applied to the tuning of handling characteristics and stability, specifically through the calibration of vehicle dynamics and control systems to ensure a responsive and engaging driving experience in a road-legal barchetta format. His work continues to play a crucial role in ensuring Ferrari vehicles achieve peak performance through a rigorous and technologically advanced approach.
