#LanciaAureliaRollingChassis

Introduced alongside the standard Aurelia sedan, the B50, B51, B52 and B53 rolling chassis were developed by Lancia between 1950 and 1956 specifically for independent coachbuilders. Based on the advanced Aurelia architecture, they combined the innovative transaxle layout, independent suspension and compact V6 engine with a bare platform intended for bespoke bodies. The B50 and B51 were initially fitted with the 1.8-litre V6, the B51 being strengthened to accept heavier coachwork, while from 1952 the B52 and B53 adopted the more powerful 2-litre engine already used on the B21 sedan. Despite ambitious production forecasts, demand remained limited due to high costs and the specialised nature of these cars, resulting in very low overall numbers. Supplied to some of the most renowned Italian and European coachbuilders—including Pininfarina, Vignale, Ghia, Viotti, Stabilimenti Farina, Beutler and Worblaufen—these rolling chassis gave rise to a remarkable variety of exclusive coupés, cabriolets, show cars and special-purpose vehicles, today regarded as among the most distinctive and collectible expressions of the Aurelia range.
