#LanceReventlow

Lance Reventlow (1936–1972) was an American racing driver, constructor, and heir to the Woolworth fortune. Passionate about motorsport from a young age, he became a prominent figure in the 1950s sports car scene, racing on the U.S. West Coast and internationally. Reventlow is best remembered as the creator of the Scarab, the successful American-built sports racing car that challenged established European marques. He also took part in events such as the Hawaiian International Sports Car Races and SCCA Nationals at Riverside and other venues. Though his career was relatively brief, cut short by his death in a plane crash at age 36, Reventlow’s Scarab project made him a symbol of ambition and innovation in American racing history.
