#HawaiianSportsCarRaces
The First Annual Hawaiian International Sports Car Races were held in 1957 at Waialua, Hawaii, bringing SCCA-style road racing to the islands. The program included the Islander’s Race, as well as the Silver Cup Challenge, attracting mainland teams and drivers alongside local entrants. Backed by John Edgar Enterprises, the event featured cars such as the Porsche 550 Spyder and gave opportunities to drivers including Loretta “Tetta” Richert and Lance Reventlow. Though short-lived, the Hawaiian races remain a fascinating chapter in American sports car history, showcasing how the postwar road racing boom briefly extended even into the Pacific.
We'll tell the story of this event on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
