#GranCarreraLafitte

The Gran Carrera Lafitte was a mid-1950s sports-car race held on Galveston Island, Texas, named after the infamous Gulf Coast privateer Jean Lafitte. Staged on improvised roads and airfield sections, it became one of the most distinctive regional events of the Southern U.S. racing scene, attracting fast privateers and powerful European sports cars. Known for its lively coastal atmosphere and challenging high-speed layout, the race offered both preliminary heats and a feature event, quickly earning a reputation as a demanding and colorful stop in the Texas motorsport calendar.
