Giovanni Moretti was an Italian entrepreneur born in Reggio Emilia. He began working early: at sixteen, he moved to Turin, where he found employment at the Elettra motorcycle factory, where quickly advanced to the position of chief mechanic. Concurrently, he pursued technical drawing studies through a correspondence course. In 1925, leveraging his experience and passion for mechanics, Moretti founded his own company, initially focusing on motorcycle production. In the late 1930s, Moretti ventured into automobile manufacturing. During World War II, due to fuel shortages, the company developed electric vehicles. After the war, Moretti resumed automobile production. In the late 1950s, facing competition from mass-produced vehicles, Giovanni Moretti shifted focus to creating special bodies on Fiat mechanicals, until its closure in December 1989. His journey from a young mechanic to a respected entrepreneur exemplifies his resilience, ingenuity, and passion for automotive design.
