Fritz Huschke von Hanstein (Fritz Sittig Enno Werner von Hanstein, 1911–1996) was a German racing driver and long-time Porsche personality, often nicknamed “the racing baron.” After competing in the 1930s, including a class win at Le Mans in 1940 with BMW, he became closely associated with Porsche in the post-war years. From 1952 he served as Porsche’s racing director and head of public relations, shaping the factory’s motorsport program through the 1950s and 1960s. Known for his charisma and diplomacy, von Hanstein was instrumental in building Porsche’s international racing presence, accompanying the works team around the world and fostering its image on and off the track.
