#Ferrari340
The Ferrari 340 was a family of models developed in the early 1950s around the large-displacement Lampredi V12 engine of approximately 4.1 litres, conceived to cover a wide range of applications from Grand Touring to top-level competition. The series included the 340 F1, built for Formula One racing, as well as road-oriented and dual-purpose variants. The 340 America represented the grand touring interpretation of the type, combining powerful mechanicals with refined coachwork for high-speed road use. The 340 Mexico was conceived as a sports-racing car specifically intended for the 1952 Carrera Panamericana, while the 340 MM evolved the concept further into a more focused and competitive sports racing model. Together, the various 340 derivatives illustrate Ferrari’s early strategy of developing a single robust engine architecture adaptable to both competition and high-performance road cars.
