#Ferrari166

The Ferrari 166 family debuted in 1948 with the 2-litre version of Gioacchino Colombo’s V12, developed for a new series of models intended for sports-car racing, Formula Two and, in road-going form, grand touring use. Known collectively as the “Tipo 166”, these cars represented the direct evolution of the earlier 159 S, itself closely derived from Ferrari’s first 125. The chassis and suspension layout remained broadly similar to the previous models, with only limited revisions, while the engine was enlarged to 1,995.02 cc, in keeping with the 2-litre class regulations. As was Ferrari practice, the model designation referred to the displacement of each individual cylinder. In its various forms, the 166 laid the foundations of Ferrari’s early international success, both in competition and in the first phase of its road-car production.

We'll tell the story of this model on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
