#CrystalPalaceCircuit

The Crystal Palace Circuit was a historic British motor-racing venue located in south-east London, within Crystal Palace Park. Originally opened in 1927 as a modest one-mile (1.6 km) dirt track, it was transformed into a fully paved and extended road circuit in 1937, reaching approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) in length. Before the Second World War it hosted important races including the London Grand Prix, attracting leading drivers such as Prince Bira and cars from manufacturers including ERA, Maserati and Delahaye. After the war, racing resumed in 1953 on a shortened 1.39-mile (2.24 km) layout. The circuit remained active until 1972, hosting national and international-level competition for Formula Two, Formula Three, sports cars and saloon cars. Drivers including Jim Clark, Jochen Rindt, Jackie Stewart and Graham Hill all raced there. Although competition ceased in the 1970s, the site remains an important part of British motorsport history and has since been used for occasional historic motoring demonstrations and commemorative events.
