#ChesterSportsCarRaces

The Annual Chester Sports Car Races were SCCA regional events held on a temporary course laid out at the local airfield near Chester, South Carolina. Typical of mid-century airport circuits, the meeting featured fast runway sections, simple facilities and a paddock filled with privateers campaigning Jaguars, Porsches, MGs, American specials and assorted European sports-racers. Though modest in scale compared to national championship rounds, the Chester races played a meaningful role in the Southern road-racing scene, offering valuable track time and competitive experience within a friendly, close-knit paddock atmosphere that characterized the region’s post-war motorsport culture.
