#CesanaSestriere

The Cesana–Sestriere is an Italian hill climb first held on August 6, 1961 to celebrate the centenary of Italian unification. The route runs approximately 10.4 km from Cesana Torinese (≈1 300 m asl) to Sestriere (≈2 035 m asl), overcoming a vertical climb of about 735 m through a mixture of hairpin bends, fast sweeps, and short straights. From its inception and into the 1970s it counted for the Italian Hill Climb Championship and the European Trophy (later FIA European Hill Climb Championship). The race was contested annually until 1973, then interrupted until 1981 before resuming until 1992 when a road subsidence halted competition. Since 2007 the event has been revived as a historic-only hill climb, also known as the Trofeo Giovanni Agnelli, and in recent years has featured in the Italian Historic Hill Climb Championship and the FIA Historic Hill Climb Championship. Legendary drivers such as Edgar Barth, Ludovico Scarfiotti, Rolf Stommelen, Gerhard Mitter, Arturo Merzario and Mauro Nesti earned victories here. Cesana–Sestriere remains a prestigious Alpine motorsport event symbolizing technical challenge, scenic beauty and historical significance.
