The historic Venetian coachbuilder was founded in the mid-19th century as Fratelli Fontana, then Pietro Fontana, then Carrozzeria per Automobili A. Fontana, then carrozzeria Paolo Fontana, passing from generation to generation. It began its activity as a factory of carts and carriages and enjoyed its period of greatest fame in the post-war period, when it built some cars for Count Giannino Marzotto, such as the Ferrari 212 “Uovo” and “Carretto Siciliano” designed by Franco Reggiani. It subsequently created aluminum hardtops for various spiders of the time. The activity continued dedicating itself to restorations until the 1980s.
